Germany’s TKMS (Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems) and Spain’s Navantia are reportedly the two top contenders for India’s Project 75 (I). Under this project, the Indian Navy plans to construct six new conventional submarines. As the deal is underway, the German government is also planning to take up a stake in TKMS, the country’s prominent submarine manufacturer.

On Saturday, terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force convoy in Shahsitar in Jammu’s Poonch district, killing one soldier and injuring five. A search operation by the Army and Police is still underway. The terrorists are said to have used AK assault rifles, a US-made M4 carbine and steel bullets to cause maximum casualties in the attack.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu inaugurated the International Election Visitors’ Programme (IEVP) on Sunday. As a part of the initiative, 75 delegates from 23 countries are visiting India to witness its general elections.

Last week, the Biden Administration reportedly halted delivery of US-manufactured ammunition to Israel,  prompting officials to seek clarity on the reasons behind the hold, according to two Israeli sources. This marks the first instance since 7 October, when Hamas terrorists murdered over 1,000 Israeli civilians, that the US interrupted a weapons transfer intended for the Israeli military. President Joe Biden is facing considerable backlash from segments of the American populace opposed to his backing of Israel.

North Korea’s UN Ambassador Kim Song dismissed efforts by the US and other Western nations to establish new groups for monitoring sanctions on North Korea, stating that they would inevitably fail. Kim’s remarks were in response to a joint statement from the US and allies advocating for the continuation of a UN panel of experts tasked with overseeing longstanding sanctions against Pyongyang due to its nuclear weapons and missile programs.

James Gilmore, former US President Donald Trump’s ambassador to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, expressed confidence on Saturday that if Trump were to return to the White House, he would once again lend his support to Taiwan. During his visit to Taipei, Gilmore added that Trump was not characterised by isolationism but rather by a push for greater defence responsibility among US allies. He vowed that the former President would maintain support for Taiwan in a potential second term.
