During Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s European tour, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier urged the US and China on Monday to boost dialogue, for “global security and cooperation.”

The Multinational Peacekeeping Joint Exercise - Ex Khaan Quest 2023 - was inaugurated by Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh on Monday. The Mongolian Armed Forces (MAF) and the United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC) are co-sponsoring the 14-day exercise in which a contingent of Garhwal Rifles is representing India. With participation from over 20 countries, the exercise aims to enhance the interoperability of the participating nations and to train uniformed personnel for the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO).


The World Health Organization (WHO) has flagged twenty toxic medicines originating from India and Indonesia. The move comes after a probe into contaminated cough syrups related to 300 worldwide deaths so far was conducted.  WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier said these 20 products were manufactured by “15 different manufacturers” in the two countries.


US President Joe Biden warned on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s threat to use tactical nuclear weapons is “real,” just days after condemns ning Russia’s deployment of such weapons in Belarus. Putin’s declaration that Russia has deployed its first tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus was deemed “absolutely irresponsible” by Biden. 


The UN ratified the first international treaty on Monday to regulate the high seas and protect remote ecosystems essential to humanity. The High Seas Treaty establishes a framework for the environmental conservation of biodiversity in international waters, which account for more than 60% of the Earth’s surface. Currently, just 1.2% of the world’s oceans are protected. UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that climate change “is heating our planet, disrupting weather patterns and ocean currents, and altering marine ecosystems and the species living there.”
