Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held talks with his Argentine counterpart Jorge Enrique Taiana in New Delhi on Tuesday. The two ministers discussed ongoing defence cooperation initiatives between the two countries, including measures to enhance defence industrial partnership. On his four-day visit to India, Taiania visited BrahMos Aerospace and is scheduled to travel to Bengaluru to visit the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd facilities.


Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif has said that the Exim Bank of China has provided Pakistan with a rollover of a $600 million loan. Islamabad has secured over $5 billion in loans from Beijing over the last three months as it struggles to shore up its foreign exchange reserves.


China’s first reusable spacecraft will be launched as soon as 2027, Yang Liwei, the deputy chief engineering designer of the country’s manned space programme said on Monday. The new spacecraft would be able to transport seven astronauts. “It will also play a critical role in future construction of China’s space station and moon landing mission,” Yang added.


The Marshall Islands on Tuesday called on the US to pay “full” compensation for the health, environmental and cultural damage caused by the 67 nuclear tests carried out by the latter in the region during World War II. “It was the people of the Pacific nation who played a major role in helping Allied forces capture Japanese invaders in the region during World War II,” Kenneth Kedi, speaker of the country’s parliament, said in testimony before an Indo-Pacific task force of the House Natural Resources Committee.


USAID chief Samantha Power promised $250 million on Tuesday to assist Ukrainian farmers affected by blocked Black Sea grain supplies since Russia’s invasion last year. Speaking at the port of Odesa, Power stated that the investment will be made through a USAID effort centred on Ukraine’s agriculture sector to improve agricultural infrastructure and expand other export routes. She also urged other governments and the private sector to match the US assistance with an additional $250 million to assist farmers who are “under attack” due to Russia’s actions.


The European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee approved a report on the situation in Belarus on Tuesday, urging EU countries and institutions to seek an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko for his alleged involvement in the “illegal transfer” of children from combat areas in Ukraine.


The House of Representatives on Tuesday overwhelmingly passed a resolution reaffirming the US’ support for Israel, days after Democratic representative Pramila Jayapal courted controversy after calling Israel a “racist state.” Jewish members of Congress called Jayapal’s remarks “unacceptable” and noted that it would embolden antisemitism. The vote was passed 412-9, with 195 Democrats voting for the resolution.
