Two 6.3-magnitude earthquakes struck western Afghanistan on Saturday near the city of Herat, injuring around 2,400 people and killing at least 2,445. Search and rescue efforts are underway.

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Italy and France from 9 to 12 October. During his visit, Singh will meet his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosetto, in Rome and his French counterpart, Sebastien Lecornu, in Paris. According to the Indian Army, 55 people lost their lives, and over 140 are still missing, following flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in the Lohnak Lake in the Teesta river basin in Sikkim. While search and rescue operations are still underway, 14 soldiers remain missing, as per reports.
