Two 6.3-magnitude earthquakes struck western Afghanistan on Saturday near the city of Herat, injuring around 2,400 people and killing at least 2,445. Search and rescue efforts are underway.


Officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) helped plan Hamas’ Saturday surprise attack on Israel and green-lighted the assault during a meeting in Beirut last Monday, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.


Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Italy and France from 9 to 12 October. During his visit, Singh will meet his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosetto, in Rome and his French counterpart, Sebastien Lecornu, in Paris. Singh will conduct the 5th Annual Defence Dialogue with Lecornu in France.


Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of Ukraine’s President, had a phone call with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval. The two sides discussed the current situation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Ukraine’s ten-point Peace Formula.


According to the Indian Army, 55 people lost their lives, and over 140 are still missing, following flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in the Lohnak Lake in the Teesta river basin in Sikkim. While search and rescue operations are still underway, 14 soldiers remain missing, as per reports.
