R. K. Singh, the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and Power, informed that the Indian government is providing assistance of Rs.100 crore (~$11.9 million) per year to the International Solar Alliance for the financial years 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25. The assistance aims to help energy transition, especially in developing and emerging economies.


The Indian Ambassador to Qatar, Vipul, received consular access to the eight Indian Navy veterans who are on death row on espionage charges in the Gulf country. Days after an informal meeting between Indian PM Narendra Modi and the Emir of Qatar, Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of COP28 in Dubai, the Ministry of External Affairs informed that the Indian ambassador in Doha met the prisoners for the first time on 3 December.


Indonesia is finalising plans to grant visa-free entry to nationals of 20 countries, including the US, China, Australia, India, South Korea, Germany, the UK, and France, to help boost its tourism and economy, Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno said on Thursday.


The US must take immediate action to stop “the hemorrhaging of sensitive US technology to China” by tightening up enforcement of existing rules and adding new ones, a House of Representatives report released on Thursday said.


The UAE has requested that the UN Security Council (UNSC) vote on a draft resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip amid the war between Israel and Palestinian militants Hamas. Arab states reiterated their call for a truce after UN Secretary-General António Guterres issued a formal warning to the UNSC about the global threat from the war. A resolution must receive at least nine votes in favour and no vetoes from the five permanent members to be adopted.


At the US-Ukraine Defence Industrial Base Conference in Washington, both countries signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on co-production and technical data exchange, Ukraine’s Presidential Office reported on Thursday. According to the document, Ukraine will receive the capabilities required for battlefield success in the short term, and economic recovery and strengthening of defence capability in the long term. One of the main priorities of the memorandum is the localization of the defence industry in Ukraine.
