Canada’s outgoing National Security Advisor (NSA) Jody Thomas said on Saturday that New Delhi is now cooperating with Ottawa regarding PM Justin Trudeau’s allegations that India was behind the killing of Sikh Separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil. Thomas said Canada has “made advancements" in its relationship with India ever since the US made a similar allegation in the Nikhil Gupta case. The outgoing NSA further noted that the information revealed in the case supported Canada’s assertions, leading to a change in India’s behaviour.

Justice Dalveer Bhandari, an Indian Judge at the International Court of Justice, voted in favour of issuing provisional measures against Israel to prevent the genocide of Palestinians. Bhandari supported the majority ruling by the 15-judge panel, which stopped short of calling for a ceasefire. In an 11-point statement explaining his support for the judgement, he said that while the order cannot be considered to be a final declaration of guilt, Israeli attacks on Gaza have turned the Strip into a "humanitarian catastrophe." He also noted that Hamas' massacres of civilians in Israel on 7 October were "acts of brutality" that must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

On Sunday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that three of its service members were killed and at least 34 were injured in a one-way drone strike that “impacted at a base in northeast Jordan.” US President Joe Biden pledged to take those responsible for the attack “to account,” claiming that while details are still being gathered, “We know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq.”

US President Joe Biden had a phone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, on Friday. The two leaders addressed the ongoing conflict in Gaza and their efforts to release all of Hamas’ remaining hostages. Biden hailed El Sisi for Egypt’s role in the hostage situation, and both leaders emphasised that all efforts are required now to conclude the hostage deal, along with an extended humanitarian pause in fighting.
